Accessibility
Every guest gets
the same front door.
This is the accessibility statement for the Smokefall website. It says what we build to, where we still fall short, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
What we build to
We build this site to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the international standard for accessible websites.
What that means here
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, and the control you are on always shows a visible ring.
- Text contrast is checked in all six light states the site cycles through: first light, bench light, golden hour, smokefall, embers, banked.
- The Pause motion button in the footer of every page stops the smoke, the sparks and the dish deck everywhere, and the site remembers your choice on your next visit.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, we honour it and show a still scene instead.
- Buttons and links are at least 24 pixels across, and the main actions are 44 pixels tall, so a thumb can find them.
- Every photograph that carries meaning has alt text that says what is in it.
- Every form field has a visible label. When something is missing, the message sits right under the field and says how to fix it.
Visiting in person? The shed has level entry from the wharf and an accessible washroom. The visit page has the rest.
Where it stands
The hardest part is text over the moving scene, because the light under it changes through the day. We measure it under the letters themselves, hour by hour, on phones and on desktops. If something is hard to read at the hour you visit, that is a real miss, and we want to hear about it.
Tell us
Call (250) 555-0117 or write to board@smokefall.example. Tell us the page and what got in the way. We fix it and write back to say what changed.
Smokefall is a fictional restaurant concept built by Kootenay Made Digital to show what a hospitality site can be. The town, the people, and the menu are invented. This statement is part of that concept build, and its standard comes from Kootenay Made Digital’s own accessibility statement. The phone number and inbox above belong to the fiction. If something on this site gets in your way, report it through that statement, where a real person reads it.
